IAF presents The Case for Copyright

Athanasios VenitsanopoulosCopyright law, IAF, News, WIPO

In light of growing pressure on governments to devalue copyright in recent years, IAF presents The Case for Copyright, which outlines the essential principles for building a case for copyright and licensing. This document consists of three principles that IAF maintain are vital to consider:

  • Fairness
    • Everyone should be able to participate in culture and have the work they create protected.
  • Remuneration
    • Authors should be rewarded fairly for the work they produce, so they are able to continue to create.
  • Future culture
    • Authors preserve and promote cultural diversity through art, literature and language, so when local authors cannot create, it can jeopardise local culture.
