IAF asks Newfoundland and Labrador Government to reconsider tax on books

The membership of the International Authors Forum (IAF) – 60 organisations representing nearly 650,000 professional creators worldwide – have written to Government Ministers in Newfoundland and Labrador.

They ask for the Government to consider the negative impact a book tax will have, significantly increasing the costs of books for readers in the province. The International Authors Forum calls for this book tax to be reconsidered.  Reading, writing and literacy provide significant cultural and economic benefits, and these important goals should not be undermined for short term gain.

The International Authors Forum supports access to books for readers, and is concerned where measures such as this are taken.
