International Translation Day (ITD) was celebrated around the globe on 30 September 2020. Inaugurated in 1991 by the International Federation of Translators (FIT), ITD was officially recognised by the United Nations in 2017.
ITD 2020: ‘Finding the words for a world in crisis’ highlighted the important role of translators, terminologists and interpreters in helping deal with the COVID-19 crisis, ensuring the flow of critical information both internationally between nations, as well as on national and local levels.
This year, IAF member, the Argentine Association of Translators and Interpreters (AATI) expanded its membership to more than 500 T&I professionals. AATI translate and interpret in a wide range of fields, such as literary, audiovisual, technical and medical, among others. So as part of ITD 2020, AATI invited its members to participate in an exclusive virtual celebration organised by its Board. Further to this, throughout September AATI shared different activities and materials with the public on its social media.
